Actively support your gut and digestion*

The importance of the gut was underestimated for a very long time. In recent decades, however, it has become increasingly clear how important the gut is for our entire body. If digestion works well and the intestinal flora is healthy, this has a positive effect on many other functions of the body. You should therefore pay attention to your gastrointestinal system to stay healthy. We explain how to do this.

Why is gut health so important for our well-being?

Most people rarely think about their intestines. Yet it really does an amazing job. The intestine is six to eight meters long and has a total surface area about the size of a tennis court. Around 100 trillion beneficial bacteria live on the intestinal mucosa, forming our intestinal flora. The intestine and intestinal flora fulfill many important tasks

They are the central element of digestion. This is where nutrients from food and drink are absorbed and passed on. Digested food, residual substances and harmful components are excreted.
The intestine regulates the body's water and salt balance and provides the energy for our bodily functions.
Around four-fifths of all our immune cells are found in the gut. This means that the largest part of our immune system is located here.
The gut and brain are directly connected via the so-called gut-brain axis. This means that the gut also affects our emotions. For example, 90 percent of the happiness hormone serotonin is produced in the gut.
Other hormones and vitamins are also produced in the intestine. Among other things, the valuable vitamin B12 is produced here.

In addition to these tips, your diet is of course of the utmost importance for your gut health.

How can we support our gut?

How healthy your gut is depends on various factors. These tips will help you to keep it healthy:

If you cannot tolerate certain foods such as lactose or gluten, you should consistently avoid them. This is particularly important if you are gluten intolerant.
Antibiotics not only kill harmful bacteria, but also damage the intestinal flora. You should therefore only take them if it is really medically necessary. After a longer or more frequent course of antibiotics, talk to your doctor about whether you should do something for your intestinal flora.
Make sure that your bowel movements are normal. Anything between "three times a day" and "every three days" is normal, as long as the consistency is right. If you have frequent diarrhea or constipation, you should talk to your doctor about the causes.
Regular exercise also gets the bowels moving and ensures healthy digestion.
Water is also very important for intestinal health. Drink at least two liters of water a day!
Avoid constant stress! Constant tension prevents the intestines from doing their job and can damage the intestinal flora as a result.

In addition to these tips, your diet is of course of the utmost importance for your gut health.

Which nutrients are good for digestion?

Micronutrients such as calcium can provide support. If you want to use high-quality dietary supplements for support, we recommend our Dr. Rilling Healthcare SILICIUM PLUS or SILICIUM PRIME capsules. They contain the important nutrient calcium. Calcium (in both products) contributes to the normal function of digestive enzymes. Vitamin D3 (in SILICIUM PRIME) in turn contributes to the normal absorption and utilization of calcium and thus to a normal calcium level in the blood.

The SILICIUM PRIME capsules are vegetarian, the SILICIUM PLUS capsules are even vegan. With calcium, they can help you to do something good for your gut.
