What is good for bones?

The so-called supporting apparatus of the body consists of bones, among other things. It enables all our movements and therefore also an active and free lifestyle. With increasing age, however, the supporting structures can suffer. To keep yourself fit, flexible and strong for as long as possible, you should therefore pay particular attention to the health of your support system. We explain what is important here.

Why is bone health so important?

The skeleton gives our body stability and strength. Bones are the only way we can hold ourselves upright. The muscles that make movement possible are attached to the bones with tendons. In this way, a wide variety of movements are possible.

However, the bone issue is quite complex: adults have over 200 bones. The largest are the thigh bone, the pelvis and the skull bone, the smallest are in the inner ear and are only a few millimetres long. The more mobile a body part needs to be, the more individual bones there are. This is why half of our bones are in our hands and feet. If the entire bone system functions well, we can move in a variety of ways.

How can the musculoskeletal system be kept healthy?

The most important measure for healthy bones is regular exercise. This causes the bones to grow and remain more stable. Sport is therefore particularly important for healthy bones.

If in doubt, you should discuss which sports and exercises are suitable for you with your doctor. For people who have not done any sport for a long time, Nordic walking, for example, is a good endurance sport.

In addition to exercise, you should avoid smoking and excessive alcohol, reduce stress and excess weight and drink plenty of fluids. Of course, your diet also plays an important role.

Which foods are good for bones?

Bones need calcium, magnesium, vitamin K and vitamin D in particular. These nutrients are important building blocks. Calcium is mainly found in dairy products and green vegetables. You can get magnesium from wholemeal bread, brown rice, pulses or nuts, for example. Vitamins are found in fruit and vegetables.

Vitamin D3 is also important so that calcium can be absorbed well in the blood. This vitamin cannot always be obtained in sufficient quantities from food. The body produces it through sunlight on the skin. Because there is not enough sunlight available all year round and many people are not outdoors regularly enough, there may be an increased need for vitamin D. This can be met with high-quality food supplements. If necessary, this can be counteracted with high-quality food supplements.

If you want to support your nutrient supply for bones with good food supplements, our Dr. Rilling Healthcare capsules SILICIUM PLUS and SILICIUM PRIME are our tip for you. They contain magnesium and calcium, which contribute to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth. SILICIUM PRIME is also enriched with vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. These nutrients also contribute to the maintenance of normal bones.
