What is good for the muscles so that they are optimally supported?

When it comes to muscles, many people first think of well-trained biceps or six-pack abs. However, these large, visible muscles are actually only a small part of our musculature. In total, more than 650 muscles ensure our mobility and strength. We explain how to keep your muscles healthy and which nutrients they need to function optimally.

Why is good muscle function important?

Muscles are about much more than strength and a defined physique. Strong muscles also keep us healthy and prevent injuries and pain. For example, they provide compensation when a joint is functionally impaired. In many cases, targeted muscle building also helps against knee or back pain.

If your muscles are strong, you are less likely to fall and have better balance. Healthy muscles are also important for our quality of life because they enable us to perform many everyday and special tasks.

The muscles are also significantly involved in energy metabolism. They send messenger substances to various organs and to the metabolism and are therefore part of many important processes in the body.

That’s why not only athletes, but really everyone should offer their muscles a little support.

How can we build up muscles and support them at work?

The most important measure for healthy and strong muscles is regular training. Muscles consume a lot of energy even at rest. If they are not used, the body breaks them down relatively quickly to save energy. Only if the muscles are used regularly can they be maintained or even built up.

Targeted strength training for the whole body is therefore ideal for healthy muscle function. However, gymnastics, yoga and endurance sports also train the muscles.

Regularity is important when exercising: at least two training sessions per week are needed to build up the muscles. Sufficient breaks for regeneration are also crucial. Make sure you target all the major muscle groups during training!

In addition to exercise, nutrition also plays an important role.
Because muscles need so much energy, they also need good nutrients to stay strong and healthy.

Which diet is best for good muscle function?

Muscles are made up of proteins, or more precisely, the amino acids that make up proteins. A protein-rich diet is therefore important for building and maintaining healthy muscles. Protein is mainly found in animal products: Meat, poultry, fish, dairy products (for example quark or cheese) and eggs are very rich in protein, but not very healthy if consumed in excess. You should therefore supplement your diet with plant-based sources of protein. Protein-rich plant products include pulses, soy, nuts and oatmeal.

Carbohydrates can also play a role. These are found in wholemeal products and pulses, among other things. White flour, pasta and sweets also contain carbohydrates. However, as these products are not particularly healthy and the carbohydrates are also broken down more quickly, you should not eat too much of these foods.

In addition, your balanced diet should contain as much healthy fruit and vegetables as possible for your muscles. This will provide your body with many important vitamins and minerals. Also look out for fruit and vegetables with lots of potassium! These include bananas, plums, kohlrabi, fennel and spinach.

Which active ingredients are important for optimal muscle function?

In addition to the “big” macronutrients, muscles also need minerals and trace elements to function properly. Magnesium and calcium in particular play an important role here. These two minerals contribute to normal muscle function and are therefore valuable for healthy muscles.

To support you in keeping your muscles healthy*, we at Dr. Rilling have developed SILICIUM PLUS and SILICIUM PRIME in addition to pure SILICIUM LIQUID. PLUS and PRIME contain the two minerals calcium and magnesium, both of which contribute to healthy muscle function. The SILICIUM PRIME capsules and SILICIUM LIQUID contain vitamin D3 and vitamin K2. Vitamin D plays a special role, firstly because it supports muscle function and secondly because it cannot always be obtained in sufficient quantities from the diet. The body produces it through sunlight on the skin. In our latitudes, however, it is not uncommon for a deficiency to occur, at least in the case of an unbalanced and one-sided diet and special physiological needs. As vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function, our high-quality vitamin D supplements can help you to compensate for this.
