Healthy teeth: Teeth good - all good?*

We learn that brushing our teeth regularly is important from an early age. Nevertheless, many people underestimate the importance of healthy teeth for our well-being and our entire body. We give you simple, everyday tips that you can use to improve your oral health.

Why are healthy teeth so important for our general well-being?

Healthy, white teeth symbolize health and youthfulness. A smile with beautiful teeth makes us shine. But healthy teeth don’t just make you look good. If your oral health isn’t right, it can have a negative impact on your well-being

Bad teeth cause bad breath and can severely affect self-confidence.
If teeth and gums are not in order, it is more difficult to eat. On the one hand, this affects your well-being, but on the other hand it can also make it more difficult to eat a healthy diet. Raw fruit and vegetables and wholegrain products in particular are very healthy on the one hand, but are often somewhat more difficult to chew on the other.

Which tips for healthy teeth are easy to implement in everyday life?

These 5 tips are suitable for everyday use and will help you to keep your teeth and gums healthy and thus strengthen your oral health:

Electric toothbrushes make it easier to clean your teeth thoroughly. If you still want to use a conventional manual toothbrush, you should pay particular attention to a good brushing technique and the right pressure. If in doubt, ask your dentist or dental hygienist!
Many bacteria are found in the spaces between your teeth, which you cannot reach with a toothbrush. So make sure you use dental floss or an interdental brush every day! This costs a maximum of one minute a day, but will do a lot for your oral health.
Many bacteria are also found on the surface of the tongue. You can easily remove these with a tongue brush.
Take your annual check-up at the dentist very seriously! It is best to make a new appointment immediately after the check-up.
You should have your teeth professionally cleaned once or twice a year. Your teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and checked. The gums will also be closely examined so that any inflammation is detected early on or doesn't develop in the first place.

Which diet is good for dental health?

Healthy teeth are important to us all. However, you can do much more to ensure that your teeth are supplied with all the necessary substances. The minerals calcium and magnesium are very important. Both substances are also contained in our highly developed food supplements SILICIUM PLUS and SILICIUM PRIME and contribute to the maintenance of normal teeth. Dr. Rilling SILICIUM PRIME also contains vitamin D3, which also contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth.

High-quality food supplements can make a special contribution here.

Which foods are harmful to teeth?

Of course, it is not only dental care that plays a role, but also the right diet. Sugar and acids in particular damage tooth enamel and can cause tooth decay or gum inflammation. You should therefore only eat sweets, cakes and the like in small quantities. Highly acidic foods are also harmful in large quantities.

In addition to food, drinks are also very important. They wash around all the teeth in your mouth and leave their harmful substances there. That’s why you should generally avoid sugary drinks in everyday life. Sweetened tea and coffee also damage your teeth and can also cause discoloration. Therefore, drink sugar-free drinks in everyday life, preferably water or unsweetened herbal teas.
